ABOUT BRIAN

Brian O’Boyle grew up in Ardsley, NY, graduated from Ohio University, and moved to Dallas in 1975 to work for Owens Corning Fiberglass. After five years he entered the apartment brokerage business and in May of 1982 he started O’Boyle Properties, Inc.

In 2003, Brian joined forces with Apartment Realty Advisors, which became one of the largest multi-family brokerage firms in the U.S. He founded the ARA Dallas, Tulsa, and Oklahoma City offices as well as co-founded the Austin and Washington, DC offices. In addition, Brian was co-founder of the national student housing, manufactured housing, and seniors housing national platforms. During this time one of his greatest satisfactions was hiring individuals with no prior brokerage experience and training them in the way he himself executed the business. Many of the producers have become some of the most successful brokers in the industry.

Brian’s career was highlighted by the sale of his companies to BGC, which became Newmark in December 2014. After the sale, he continued working with Newmark, but has changed his focus from investment sales to raising equity for ground-up multi-family projects.

Brian has been a long-time member of the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors. He has received many awards during his brokerage tenure. He was named the #1 Investment Broker of the Year numerous times and was the 2002 recipient of the Stemmons Service Award. In 2023 he received the Red Texas News Icon Award.

Brian has always been involved with helping many individuals in financial need as well as helping many charitable organizations. For over 20 years he also coached Special Olympics basketball. He served on the Catholic Charities Board for six years and helped to facilitate the opening of shelters for the homeless.

He was one of the founders of the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store and is currently on the board for the St. Vincent de Paul Charitable Pharmacy. He has been instrumental in growing the pharmacy, which distributed over 103,000 free prescriptions last year. For his work with this charity, he received the Spark of Hope Award.

Brian has been involved for a number of years with Cristo Rey Preparatory School and currently serves on its Board of Directors. In addition to helping the current students, he also spends a lot of time mentoring the graduates as well as young professionals.

Brian has been married to Peggy for 45 years. They have four children and eight grandchildren, all residing in Dallas.
