2027 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE

Growing up in Burlington, Iowa, as the oldest of eight siblings, Gary Carr attributes a significant part of his professional success to the values and work ethic his parents instilled in him. After graduating from the University of Iowa, Gary spent two years at Xerox Corporation.  He moved to Dallas in 1979 and went to work for Coldwell Banker, which later became CBRE. 

After 40 years at CBRE, Gary was recruited by Newmark in 2019, along with Chris Murphy and Robert Hill, to help build out the Office Capital Market Platform for the Southwest.  

Throughout his career, Gary has sold numerous high-value landmark office buildings throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth region.  He is known for bringing new investors into the marketplace and takes pride in showcasing the many qualities that make DFW an attractive place for people and businesses.

Gary’s career includes some of the region’s most notable office transactions, including the Duke Programmatic Joint Venture (5.17 million square feet), Campus at Legacy West (1.83 million square feet), former EDS Legacy Campus (1.6 million square feet) and Galleria Office Towers (1.4 million square feet). His clients have included AT&T, Crow Holdings, JPMorgan, Fidelity Investments and many others.

During his tenure with both CBRE and Newmark, Gary has always made time for something he greatly enjoys: mentoring young professionals starting their careers in real estate.

In addition to his professional career, Gary is extremely active and loves to travel and spend time outdoors. He is also very involved in the Frisco community and actively supports several charitable organizations, including Frisco Family Services, Kaleidoscope Park and Cristo Rey Preparatory School.  He is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.      

​​Gary has been married to his wife, Donna, since 1999.  They reside in Frisco and have two daughters, Haley and Peyton.
