In 1966, Mario Sinacola formed Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating, Inc. (now Sinacola), making it a third-generation family-owned construction company dating back to the early 1900s. The company performed underground utility work in the Detroit-metro area. In the late 1970s, Michigan’s economy was suffering from a crippling decline, causing a financial strain on the company. At the same time, Texas was experiencing record growth, and with established contacts in the area, the Sinacolas began pursuing work in and around Dallas. In 1979, they began work on their first project in Texas, a major waterline for the City of Dallas. Realizing the tremendous opportunity in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, and with conditions in Michigan still uncertain, the Sinacolas decided to relocate all operations to Texas. Throughout the years, their service offerings have organically expanded from underground utility work to adding excavating, concrete paving, transportation, and concrete structures.

 

With headquarters in Frisco, Texas, Sinacola performs projects across the state in both the public and private sectors. Sinacola has established itself as being a “best in class” heavy/civil construction firm, and they have been and continue to be instrumental in the growth and development of North Texas. Among Sinacola’s many capabilities are city infrastructure, residential and retail developments, highways and toll roads, airports, golf courses, railways, mining, stadiums, commercial/industrial developments, and all types of warehouse/distribution/manufacturing and data centers. Regardless of the size or scope of the project, Sinacola prides itself on performing quality work and completing it on time and within budget. 

 

To ensure the company’s legacy continues for years to come, in May 2017 the Sinacola brothers transitioned ownership to an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) and rebranded as “Sinacola.” Now a 100% employee-owned company, the men and women of Sinacola have a stake in driving the company’s value and sharing in its success. Sinacola employees are committed to doing things “The Sinacola Way.” This mantra is defined by: People First, Safety Always, Owners Mentality, Hard Work, Details Matter. The employees take pride in honoring the Sinacola name by striving to achieve and maintain the vision of excellence first set by Mario and his sons.

 

In addition to serving on Sinacola's Board of Directors, James, Michael, and Joseph continue to mentor and guide the teams to build upon the solid foundation established over the past generations. The Sinacola brothers enjoy the outdoors, traveling, and most of all spending time with family. James and his late wife, Lynn; Michael and his wife, Theresa; and Joseph and his wife, Alisha, along with their children and grandchildren, are proud to have established deep roots in the North Texas region.
